When it comes time to sit back and relax with a book, the Tekoteko bookmark will come in handy! It is crafted from Eco friendly, renewable and strong bamboo plywood, screen printed and inlaid with a Paua shell Mere and has a leather tassel tied to the top.
The Tekoteko represents the human form and crafted to represent ancient tribal ancestors who instil protection and guardianship over the tribe. They are commonly found as freestanding statues, mounted to the gable of a whare (house) or carved into the central poles of the great meeting houses to protect the tribe
Bamboo is one of natures wonders and is one of the only carbon neutral, renewable, Eco friendly, natural resources on our planet! Bamboo has thousands of uses, from bookmarks, medicines & foods to clothing or even scaffolding! Bamboo is actually from the grass family and is not a tree as you might think. Bamboo can grow up to 98 inches in just 24 hours and it produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees would! We would be silly not to use this amazing material for our bookmarks!
When you purchase from us you purchase directly from the manufacturer, all our products are made and assembled right here in Rotorua, New Zealand!
